- a borrower who is a U.S. servicemember and who is unable to continue making the monthly payment due to an injury sustained while on active duty; or
- a borrower or non-borrower surviving spouse who is unable to continue making the monthly payment due to the death of a U.S. servicemember while on active duty who was either
- a borrower, or
- a family member of the borrower who significantly contributed to the monthly payment.
